Who will visit Tokyo for the first time and not drop by the city’s icon, the Tokyo Tower. At 333m high, it is one of the most prominent structure and most recognized landmark in Tokyo. You can find more info over at their official website.
I might make another trip to the tower on my next trip to Tokyo to get some better shots of the city’s skyline.
Upon entering, you’ll be greeted by a couple cuties.
There are two observation decks in the Tokyo Tower, one at 160m above ground, and the special observatory at 250m.
This is everything below looks like at 160m. Yet, this is not the tallest building I’ve been to. ^^;;
You can stand on top of a piece of glass to see what’s under your feet, a close up shot will reveal all the dirt that’s caught at the edges. Hardly ideal for taking photos.
Like the rest of my trip last summer, ’twas cloudy that day. “orz
The city was gunning for the 2016 Olympics; this map details where they plan to hold the many sporting events.
The special observation deck is located 250m above ground, and you’ll have to pay extra for the lovely view.
Everything looks like ants from 250m. I believe this is the fifth highest observation deck I’ve been to. ^^
You can look into the distance hundreds of kilometers away.
I would recommend this view if you’re into taking pictures from high places. You can see things more clearly at this height.
Ending this post with a night shot of Tokyo 333.

I went to Tokyo and didn’t go…
This time I will!!!! Plus planning to get night photos at Tokyo Tower and day photos too!!!!!!
Were you too occupied in Akihabara? ^^;
I think night shots are better taken at Roppongi Hills’ open air sky deck because you’ll see the lit up Tokyo Tower. But you can go to both. XD
Akihabara…the best place ever!!!
When I went to Japan, most of my time was spent at Akihabara and Comiket…
This year, I’m going to a lot of places!!!
I should make a point of going to Akihabara next time. ^^
my coworker was telling me how tokyo tower is one of those places that most everyone in japan visits (or makes a point to do so if they ever go to tokyo). i went as part of a short half-day tour that was bundled with the trip my family went on… glad i had the experience at least once ^^
i should’ve taken some pics of the tower … they had it set up with some different lighting than usual (some blue lights and such)… and my hotel was in the area to boot.
ah well. if i go back i want to pay to go up to the highest point… last time i just went up to the first observation deck or whatever it was.
Yup, I think it is something that you need to experience at least once in your lifetime. I read something about white lighting being used during winter, it must be quite a spectacle.
Hopefully my Japan trip will materialize this year, nice preview for me. I donno I will have time to make it to Tokyo though lol, probably spend most of my time in Akiba.
I see, I hope you’ll have a blast during your trip to Japan. ^^
This is a brilliant post! I just have one thought. How do you do it so brilliantly? Everything on this internet site is really good.
Carry on the great work!
