The Toyota Automobile Museum located in Nagoya, just outside the Geidai-dori station, houses hundreds of classic automobiles highlighting their significance in the history of the automotive world.
I thought the TAM would be a showcase of the history of the Toyota brand, but that wasn’t the case.
The TAM is separated into three different sections: The World Hall, The Japanese Hall, and The Annex.
The Annex highlights the significance of the automobile in the everyday life of the Japanese people.
They had a “world famous cars exhibit” when I went last June. Enjoy the rest of the photos. ^^
Toyoda Model AA Sedan (1936, Japan), Toyota’s first production model.
Benz Patent Motorwagen. (1886, Germany)
Rolls-Royce 40/50HP Silver Ghost. (1910, U.K.)
Ford Model T. (1909, USA).
Stanley Steamer Model E2. (1909, USA)
Cadillac Model A. (1902, USA)
Mercedes Benz SL300. (1955, Germany) Displayed as part of the world famous cars exhibit.
A classic Mercedes that can still whoop the ass of many modern sports cars. I love the gull wing doors.
DeLorean DMC-12. She looks familiar, doesn’t she?
She’s the time machine that was featured in the film Back to the Future. ^^
Volkswagen Beetle (1938, Germany), and the Mini Cooper (1959, U.K.). Probably two of the world’s most recognized and iconic cars. Did you know that the Beetle was commissioned, and its design heavily influenced, by Hitler himself?
Nissan Fairlady Z. (1969, Japan)
Toyota Corolla Levin/Sprinter Trueno AE86. (1983, Japan) I’m sure many of you will recognize this car from Initial D. :P
1948 Tucker Sedan. (1948, USA)
Toyota Land Cruiser. (1960, Japan)
Thomas Flyer Model L. (1909, USA)
Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Sport. (1930, Italy)
Bugatti Type 35B. (1926, France)
Bentley 4½Litre. (1930, U.K.)
Packard Twelve “Roosevelt’s Car”. (1939, USA)
Rolls-Royce 40/50HP Phantom III. (1937, U.K.)
Mercedes-Benz 500K (1935, Germany) and Cord Front Drive Model 812 (1937, USA).
Toyoda Model AA. (1936, Japan)
Toyota Model AB Phaeton. (1936, Japan)
Toyopet Model SA. (1951, Japan)
Toyopet Crown Model RS. (1955, Japan)
Toyopet Crown Model RSD. (1955, Japan)
Toyota Corolla Model KE10. (1966, Japan) The birth of my worst nightmare!
Mitsubishi Colt Galant Model GTO-MR. (1971, Japan)
James Bond’s Aston Martin Vanish.
Honda S500 Model AS280. (1964, Japan)
Mazda Cosmo Sport Model L10B. (1969, Japan)
Toyota 2000GT Model MF10. (1968, Japan)
Toyota Sports 800 Model UP15. (1965, Japan)
Toyota 7. (1970, Japan)
I was hoping there were more race cars in the museum like the Toyota F-1 cars, or the Toyota Supra GT race cars.
But I guess they’re not significant enough to make the cut. “orz
Prince R380-I. (1966, Japan) Later detuned for the famous Skyline GTR.
Toyota AXV-IV (1991, Japan) and Toyota e.com (1997, Japan).
You can go here for a full list of their cars.
Those toys in the glass cabinets are probably worth more than the car. ^^;; You can see a copy of Astroboy comic #1 as well.
I-unit, I wonder when we’ll begin to see them on the streets.
LOL, speechless.
