Hiroshima, the city of peace. The city was actually out of the way for my Tokyo – Osaka route; but I really wanted to see the A-bomb dome with my own eyes.
Started off the day with some McD goodies. I just pointed at what I want. ^^;;
Shrimp burger was yummy.
Boarded one of these Shinkansen Kodoma to Shin-Osaka before boarding a connecting train to Hiroshima.
Gotta love the JR Pass. If you plan to go all over the place like me, then it would be a good idea to grab one of this. Go here to find out how.

The Children’s Peace Monument. I remember reading the book Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes many moons ago, and it is one of the reason why I wanted to go to Hiroshima.

You will see many statues and monuments around the city remembering those who fell victim to the Hiroshima bombing.
A candle light vigil was held that night to remember all those who fell victim to the bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It really made my day.
Hiroshima Castle. I didn’t know there was one, so I didn’t go. :(

Went with this Boss Cafe coffee. To be honest, I just picked it randomly and hope for the best. ^^;;
Walked around the hotel the next morning before boarding the train to Kyoto.
A ¥1,000 penalty for littering is laughable compared to the $1,500 HKD fine in Hong Kong and $300 Cdn slap in the face in Toronto. ^^ But Japanese cities are very clean indeed. How much do you get fined if you get caught littering around your area?
I’m not really sure how these parking things work…you can easily drive over it if you don’t want to pay.
People were lining up at 7:00am to go into the pachinko…

How does it feel to be in such an tragic,historic city as Hiroshima?
I actually wonder if theres stil some radiation left nowadays.
It feels kind of gloomy and makes you think about what happened, but it was definitely worth the trip. The grey skies and candle light vigil added to the gloomy atmosphere.
Hmm…I wonder too. But the atomic bombs weren’t as powerful, so I don’t think the effects are as long lasting as later releases…or so I hope…
