I’m usually not so enthusiastic posting about on-going anime series’ because you never know how good/bad the anime will be, especially towards the end. Though I can’t tell you how good the ending will be for Canaan, I can tell you the plot is one of the best I’ve seen in a while. There isn’t any spoilers in this post other than the 100 screenshots I uploaded for the first episode. ^^;;;;
There haven’t been any so-called “breakthrough” series’ in a while. But Canaan seems different from the get go; something that many animes shy away from…blood, death, and (somewhat) real life scenarios that really sucks you into your 24 inch monitor.
I love the OP and ED for Canaan. Look for Mind as Judgement and My Heaven.
On top of that, the spring/summer season is really lacking in any good animes altogether. I’ve read many recommendations on other blogs, but none of them really lived up to my expectations.
The only ones I watch religiously every week are Fullmetal Alchemist – Brotherhood, and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Second Season; though I’m really getting tired of the endless eight episodes. I need to catch up on some others like Valkyria Chronicle and Tears to Tiara.
Maria Ōsawa. I’ll leave their roles for you to find out when you watch Canaan. ^^
Minoru Minorikawa. I really like how the story is being told; clear and concise, and no gibberish small talks. I’m more of an action packed person, so I prefer animes with flashy gun fights, explosions, and lots of people dying for no apparent reason at all. Canaan scores high points for all of those.
If you haven’t already done so, I think you should give Canaan a spin. If you’re still not interested after the first three episodes, come back here for a refund of the hour you spent watching it. ^^

Several things:
1. Posts like this make me wish they’d adopt the “LJ-cut” or “More” technique for the blogroll page, so we wouldn’t be bombarded by all those screenshots.
And DUDE, you totally went nuts :P

2. You should say what the anime is about, or seemingly, even in a 2 line deal, like, “Wolf’s Rain is about wolves passing along as humans in a futuristic dystopia, searching for Heaven.”
Anime Encyclopedia and Wikipedia are lacking any notes on its story, weird. Especially for Wikipedia.
3. This anime makes me sad in a way. It’s only been a month since it first began showing, but already we know of figures coming out for it.
I’m all for figures coming out, but dudes, wait till the anime’s over so we know it’s worth it. It’s almost like they come up with the merchansize before the first episode airs…
1. I DID address the issue in the first paragraph stating that there will be 100 screenshots. My rambling ended at 7 or 8 paragraphs.
2. I’ll try to throw in a pitch next time. But I think part of the fun of watching an anime is the process of discovery, finding out what happens and what the story is about. It’s only five episodes in, so I don’t think I can give an accurate description of what’s going on anyways because there’s still tons of character development going on.
3. The figure by GSC was what led me to this anime. I think this will be the trend for the future, figures being announced as the show is aired to maximize profits for both sides.

2. Yeah, especially since NGE most serieses have a mystical “Bait and Switch”, and at episode 16 we’ll uncover some theological and mystical underlying plot!
But more seriously, how do people decide what to watch, what to read, if not even by a one-liner, say, of at least what the show begins at? I’m honestly curious.
3. I know it’s there to maximize profits, that’s the point ;-)
I dunno when I’ll watch it, I like watching serieses in one go, but then again, I also like constructing my week with things that come out on a specific day.

I just d/l anything and see how cute the girls are, or how cool the characters are, in the OP. If it meets my standards, then I’ll proceed to watching it. ^^;; Then the rest depends on the plot.
I’ll occasionally read what others recommend and watch one or two episodes and see where that takes me. Screenshots helps a lot because I’ll skip the ones that have crappy artwork.
Funny, I usually skip the OP if I don’t like the music in the first 15 seconds ;)

Difference in preference. I only watch the OP once. But if I really like the song, i.e. FMA Brotherhood – Again, I’ll watch it every time. ^^
I watched the first episode, after watching the Kara no Kyoukai and finally stop being the only one who hadn’t watched Fate Stay Night I was good for some more Type Moon stuff. First episode seem good to me.
I’ll watch the rest in about a year when Menclave finishes this.
My only complaint was that I got confused with Canaan’s gender, I blame people who thought she was a guy.
I still haven’t watch F/SN. I really need to catch up on some classics.
I didn’t know it was a Type Moon production until I did some research (i.e. Wiki ^^;) for this post. The story is really good. I’ll probably end up re-watching it from start to finish when everything’s said and done.
Never got confused with her gender…though at one point, I thought Alphard looked like Alto-hime.
But yeah, uploading multiple pictures to WordPress can be a pain in the ass, but, then again, isn’t taking 100 screenshots more of a pain in the ass?
Unless you use a program that each time you take a screenshot it saves it immediately, or opens it immediately inside a program, like Photo Impact does, do you use such a program?
I just keep on pressing “C” to capture. ^^;;; I could’ve used Media Player Classic’s auto capture funtion, but it’s just not the same as full size captures.
