The Idolm@ster girls are seemingly the perfect fit for MegaHouse’s latest line of figures, the “Brilliant Stage” series. Aiming to become top idol, Miki Hoshii (星井美希) joins 765 Productions in the popular Xbox game THE IDOLM@STER: Live For You!
The artwork that MegaHouse’s Miki is based on differs from her appearance in the game, most notably the extra details on her hair. Personally I don’t have any beef with this original work, though this might ruffle a few feathers with those who (over)value “anime accuracy”.
I might sound over enthusiastic with this review since I AM a fan of the IM@S girls. ^^ Here’s Miki in action.

Relations is one of my personal favourites from the series. Though Miki’s voice is not as good as Azusa or Chihaya, her good looks makes up for her lack of singing talent.
THE IDOLM@STER x Perfume – PerfectStarPerfectStyle
I came across some Idolm@ster x Perfume videos on Youtube; I can tell you this combo = WIN! Miki and Haruka are by far the most popular girls in the series.
MegaHouse’s Brilliant Stage Miki Hoshii went on sale in April 2009 for ¥6,800.
Nekomaru from Nekohouse is in charge of sculpting the idols in the Brilliant Stage S-2 release.
MegaHouse’s Miki, to my surprise, is among one of the best looking figures in my collection. Her beautiful scuplt, glittering outfit, and great paint job draws your attention to her; as expected of the busty top idol.
The level of detail is everything we’ve come to expect in a 1/7 scale figure with a finely sculpted body, folds and creases on her outfit, and extra care given to her flowing blonde hair.
But that is not to say this figure is flawless. The paint job on Miki looks great, but MegaHouse went a little overboard with the shading on this beauty. I wouldn’t say it is something bad, not at all, especially when she looks this gorgeous under the lights.
The base is nice and simple with some reflective properties adding to the overall aesthetics of the figure. More importantly, the design is uniform throughout the Brilliant Stage Idolm@ster series.
Miki has rarely had to work hard for anything. It is because of this that she always approaches tasks with a very laid back attitude. She manages good grades with minimal effort, and was born with good-looks that belie her age.
They forgot to mention that she packs quite a body for a 14 year old. (B-W-H): 84-55-82.
I wasn’t much of a Miki fan in the beginning, I was all for the Futami twins (whom, by the way, have really horrible singing voice. Pretty much what you expect for their age.) But Miki’s smexy good looks, and somewhat good singing won me over.
Come to think of it, the only one that I don’t like is Ritsuko. ^^;;
You have to appreciate the craftsmanship Nekohouse put into this figure. Miki looks great with the details just showing on her stage outfit.
It seems as though they chose a simplistic approach on Miki’s stage outfit, yet the minute details are there when you want to see them. That’s the kind of beauty I see in her.
Who needs “anime accuracy” when you have this pretty face looking at you. ^^
I didn’t really like the black line painted on her mouth when I first saw her, but I’ve become accustomed to it. Or maybe I’m just ignoring it altogether.
The smallest of details is there to be seen, Miki’s heart pendant.
Just another reason for her popularity. ^^
I have many figures with flowing hair, but this is the only one with multiple layers to impress those who appreciate the attention to detail.
The details and shading is simply gorgeous.
This has to be, by far, the best of the three Miki figures out there. I don’t care how you slice it, I don’t see Max Factory’s Miki topping this one in any category other than having a more game accurate look.
MegaHouse’s Brilliant Stage Miki and Max Factory’s Anticipating New Star Miki. I was really content with how Max Factory’s Miki looked until I got my hand’s on MegaHouse’s version. Don’t get me wrong, they both look great.
You can also see what I meant by “overshading” in MH’s version.
I really love the base on Max Factory’s version, but they could’ve gave the figure a little bit more detail.
Yukiho Hagiwara was released with Miki as part of MegaHouse’s Brilliant Stage Idolm@ster S-2 series.

So the poses are based on the songs they sing? Interesting. I find it hard to compare this and the MF version, but maybe it’s because I don’t know the series or the character well enough in the first place as well as figures in general.
Yes, and no. Miki’s poses are based on the poses in “Go My Way”, while the other girls in the series take on different poses. Some of them come from box covers, promo posters, etc.
MegaHouse’s version is based on the original artwork (second picture), and Max Factory’s version is based on her game appearance (videos). It is hard to compare the two because you don’t know how Max Factory’s version looks like. You’ll get a better idea of what I’m saying when I post a review for Max Factory’s version.
Catching up on blogroll again, thanks for the vids, that help me understand a bit more about Idolm@ster. Looks pretty neat.
Can’t go wrong with cute girls singing/dancing. ^^ Some of their voices gets annoying after two seconds, but you can always watch them dance.
Nice looking figure overall, I especially liked how Megahouse put in their efforts on the minor details (spark spark).
The details was definitely a nice touch to the figure.
Im not too much of a fan of the glittery outfit but shes a nice figure.Wasnt there a variant version with short brown hair?I actually prefer that over this one but thats just personal taste
She cuts her hair and stops dying her hair blonde late in the game. She’s definitely got her charms with brown hair…since she’s still Miki. ^^
Max Factory made the “Awakening Version” with brown hair, which happens to be on sale at HLJ. ^^
